In doing some Istanbul research, I made a pretty amazing discovery (see above map). Istanbul is about 300 miles away from the straight called Vrachoi Amarides, between the islands of Paros and Naxos in the Aegean. I'm not sure of the logistics in how to get there, but, if possible, I plan to go see it while in Turkey.
