Best Show of the Year: Francis Bacon

I just got back from the Francis Bacon exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and it was, by far and without a doubt, the best show I have seen in many years. The collection grouped his works by segments of time in his life (my personal favorite being his series of portraits he painted of his questionable friends he hung out with in Soho). Phenomenal and weird to see "high art" that glorifies the so-called low-lives that were his best friends. I think I am just as fascinated with his life as I am with his work. Overall, it was like a nightmare that I want to keep repeating in my head.

Also, while you are at the Met I recommend checking out the rooftop with Roxy Paine's 130-foot-long by 45-foot-wide stainless steel sculpture. Not only is it huge, and based on the vascular system, but you get a great view of the Upper East Side along Central Park as a bonus.
