I recently stumbled upon the group Creative Time, a non-profit that works to discover groundbreaking, contemporary art. Their newest show in NYC "This World and Nearer Ones" is being held in Governor's Island this year, featuring 19 works by contemporary artists from around the world.
"It could be stated that many of the works of This World & Nearer Ones seem enveloped in a pall of darkness, to be read either as a persistence of the irrational and the obscure or a reflection of the spirit of the age." (from the PLOT09 website).
Doesn't that sound appealing? I plan to attend next weekend, as if I were vacationing on Governor's Island.
Show opened June 24th and will run through the end of summer.
