A Lesson in Augmented Reality from GE

One of my friends Kimberly Dunn (also a graphic designer in New York City, her website coming soon) sent me this like from General Electric which was a highly interactive way of marketing their new "Smart Grid Technology" to the public. The basic idea is that you print out a solar panel marker and show it to your web cam, and the FLARtoolkit source code creates a hologram of a wind turbine and / or solar energy on the paper you hold in your hands, which in turn reacts to motion and sound. A lesson in Eco-efficiency, and some high tech programming. Needless to say, I was impressed.
