Milton Glaser: To Inform and Delight

I heard Milton Glaser speak at an AIGA event a few years ago in New York City, and it was one of the first times I ever heard a designer speak about the industry (as well as his life's work in retrospect, and the work of Pushpin). As an icon of American graphic design, he was inspiring to say the least. At Pratt, Milton Glaser was always referred to by my professors as one of the great forefathers of our industry (and in my circle of friends, some would say a rock star).

Therefore, I am beyond excited to see the upcoming film about his work. The quote below from the review reminds me why I moved to New York and what it means to design in this great city.

"[Milton Glaser] is the product of a kind of humanism that only NYC has produced. The city’s streets, bridges, architecture, tunnels, cabs, history, park, races, music, art—a love of all this informs the soul of his character. Watching Glaser makes you want to move to NYC, the center of all that is human."
